How do I apply for Medicaid or CHIP?
You can apply in 2 ways: 1) fill out a Marketplace application. 2) apply directly to your state agency.
How can I get a dental plan?
Once you have enrolled in a Marketplace health plan then you can sign up for a Marketplace dental plan. Once your Marketplace health coverage starts, you can’t go back and add a dental plan. You also cannot enroll in just a dental plan through HealthCare.gov.
If I want health coverage starting on January 1, 2016, what’s my enrollment deadline?
You must enroll by December 15, 2015 for new coverage.
How do I renew or change my Marketplace coverage for 2016?
If you had a Marketplace insurance plan in 2015, you should’ve received 2 letters by email or mail (one from your insurance company, one from the Health Insurance Market). These notices should tell you if your plan is available for 2016, if it’s changing, and how much it will cost. If you don’t respond, you’ll automatically be re-enrolled in your 2015 plan for 2016. Be sure to update your income and household information for the year ahead.
How do I update my income and household for 2016?
Log in to your account to update your information, select your 2016 application, and follow the directions on the screen.
Will I pay a penalty if I don’t have health coverage?
Typically, you’ll pay a penalty fee if you don’t have coverage for all or part of the year. For 2015 the fee is $325 per person or 2% of your household income, whichever is higher. For 2016, the fee is $695 per person or 2.5% of your household income, whichever is higher.
